ZIPFlash works in two modes 

1) In auto-complete mode - which means that once the user has filled in the ZIP field on your form the City & State will be automatically looked up and inserted. This will also work from a given city/state to lookup the ZIP.

and/or

2)  As a standard lookup control template which puts two lookup buttons on to your update form - one for finding ZIP from City and State and the other for getting City and State from the ZIP code. If no ZIP exists then all ZIP codes will be available for selection


If there is more than one ZIP for a City/State combination a pick list will be shown - from which your user can select the code they want.

In some situations you might not want this pick list appearing so there is a template option to use the first match found instead.

If no match is found in the ZIP file there is the option to beep and/or display a customizable message explaining what has happened.

A Map button can be placed on a Browse or a Form - this will show the location of the city on a map of the USA

An optional Distance Button can be placed on a browse or form - it will calculate the distance between 2 ZIP codes - with the option to copy to the Clipboard.

ZIPFlash will work with any file of ZIP codes which has a key on the City + State. The recommended database is from www.gencd.com and costs only $29 with the first update being free (74,000 records and based on data from the US Postal Service). ZipFlash includes a converter .APP to bring the above database from comma delimited format into any Clarion supported file format. In the Sterling Data software library there is a smaller freeware file of 43,000 ZIP codes which can also be used with ZIPFlash (ZIPS.TPS).
